An 11th-generation Bay Area native, my roots in Northern California run deep, yet my artistic journey began as an act of quiet rebellion. Growing up, I was often told that our family simply "wasn't artistic," but I felt a persistent, internal pull toward creation that I couldn't ignore.

What started as simple drawings  evolved into formal watercolor paintings, but it wasn't until I discovered the world of urban sketching that my true voice emerged, drawn to the energy of loose pen-and-ink techniques—the ability to capture the "soul" of a place through rhythmic lines and spontaneous washes of color.

Today, this enthusiasm for the "perfectly imperfect" is my hallmark. Whether I am painting the historic redwoods or the storied streets of England, my work is a celebration of the creative spark I was told didn't exist—proving that sometimes, the most authentic art comes from simply following that persistent urge to explore.

I invite the viewer into a world that feels both nostalgic and surreal. My palette is intentionally bold—using teals, magentas, and citrus yellows to reveal the hidden energy in every landmark and creature.

Through my art, I seek to bridge the gap between the familiar and the fantastical, turning local haunts and distant meadows into a kaleidoscope of place.

    Inspiration

My work is an exploration of the vibrant energy hidden within the world’s most storied corners. I aim to transform familiar landmarks and local wildlife into psychedelic, storybook dreams.

Whether I am capturing the musical history of  Strawberry Field, the rustic warmth of Apple Jack’s in the redwoods, or the wild, alert spirit of a Cotswold hare, my process remains the same: I look for the 'magic' in the mundane. I use a saturated, non-traditional palette—violets, teals, and citrus yellows—to suggest that every building and creature has its own internal light and history.

    The Collector’s Guide to Framing

Each original painting is created using professional-grade, archival materials designed to last a lifetime. To preserve the vibrancy of the watercolor and the precision of the ink work, I recommend the following framing standards.

    Choosing Your Presentation

The Classic Mat (Recommended): Framing with a mat (the paper border) is the gold standard for works on paper. It provides a visual "buffer" that draws the eye into the composition.

    • Pro Tip: Choose a mat in a neutral white or soft cream. This allows the colors in the painting to pop without competing with the frame.

The Modern Full-Bleed: If you prefer a minimalist look, you can frame the paper directly to the edge of the frame.

    • Pro Tip: Ensure you use "spacers" so the artwork does not touch the glass. This prevents moisture buildup and protects the delicate watercolor surface.

    Size & Proportion

A good rule of thumb for choosing a frame size is to add 4 to 6 inches to both the width and height of the painting.

    • For Small Works (e.g., 5 x 7): A wide mat in an 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 frame makes a small piece feel like a significant statement.

    • For Medium Works (e.g., 11 x 14): A 16 x 20 frame is the professional standard, offering a balanced, gallery-ready look.

    • For Large Works (e.g., 18 x 24): Consider a custom frame with a  2 to 3 -inch mat to give the piece the architectural presence it deserves.

    Protecting Your Investment

    • Glazing: Always opt for UV-Protective Glass (Conservation Clear). Even lightfast paints can be affected by decades of direct sunlight.
    • Placement: Avoid hanging original watercolors in high-moisture areas (like bathrooms) or in direct, consistent sunlight.

    Frame Style

Slim Black or Dark Wood: Complements the crisp, architectural feel of the Micron ink linework.

Natural Oak or Maple: Enhances the organic, fluid energy of the watercolor washes and works beautifully with coastal or wildlife subjects.

    A Note on Custom Framing

While standard-sized frames are a great starting point, a professional custom framer can help you select a unique combination of mat textures and wood grains that turn your new original into a true centerpiece for your home.
